Analysis + personal experience Is Google Making Us Stupid?by Nicholas Carr
Firstly you will need to write an introduction in which you give the main ideas of the text or perhaps a history of the particular topic discussed by the author. This introduction should build to your thesis, which should make a statement about the main idea, and how this main idea ties in with 21st century American society. Secondly, you will need to write two to three body paragraphs, each of which begins with a strong, specific topic sentence. It might make sense to have one paragraph in which you specify exactly what the main idea of the story is. The subsequent paragraph could function as the discussion of how the ideas of the text are relevant to America today. Try to use specific examples, either from the news or personal experiences. If you use personal experiences try not to use first in the paper. Thirdly, you will need to write a conclusion that both restates what you have said throughout the paper, and also offers suggestions for alleviating problems raised by the issues in these story.
There should be at least 4 paragraphs in the essay and the thesis should be the last sentence of your first paragraph. The thesis should have two or three clear points, each of which relates specifically to one of your body paragraph.
You need 2-3 DIRECT quotes from the text in each body paragraph.*
Paragraph #1 Intro and thesis
Paragraph #2 discussion of the main idea in the text
paragraph #3 example that connect with the text
paragraph # 4 conclusion (personal)
