Establish a thesis that you will use to organize your essay throughout.

Second Paragraph: Discuss first image
Be sure to address:
Key characteristics of the respective art movement: goals, themes, style
Key characteristics of the artists own style
Any relevant historical events or socio-political issues affecting the artist and art movement
How the image exemplifies the artists style and the movement it represents
Use and define relevant art historical terminology (from the module glossaries)

Third Paragraph: Discuss second image
Be sure to address:

How the image exemplifies the artists style and the movement it represents
Use and define relevant art historical terminology (from the module glossaries)

Fourth Paragraph: Compare and contrast the two works
Consider basic formal differences (such as materials used, color, shape, etc.), as well as any relevant similarities and/or differences in the artists beliefs and goals. If the historical period is significantly similar or different, discuss that as well.

Fifth Paragraph: Conclusion
Draw insightful conclusions from the similarities and differences (these should tie into your thesis).
Lastly, reflect on how the art work relates to your own personal experience, preferences, or interests.

* You can have more than 5 paragraph, but just make sure you follow the details on each paragraph I provide.
* Do not allow the quotes or outside sources to speak for you.
* The outside research should be used to augment your papers by supporting points you make (i.e. quotes that support or elaborate on your points).
* You might also use the outside research to bring in some interesting additional information about the artists. But, do not overdo this!
