The body of the essay shall discuss 3 different effects of warfare on combatants that have changed as a result of new technologies of warfare since the Second Industrial Revolution.
In order to point out effects of warfare on combatants that have changed as a result of new technologies of warfare since 1850, a comparison must be made to a period of time before 1850 to highlight the changes as a result of new technologies. (For example, a comparison can be made of the wars fought during the Crusades vs that of Vietnam or Iraq and examine the changes of effects on combatants as a result of new technologies)
a? One of the effects to be discussed in the essay shall be the fact that since the second industrial revolution, warfare has become increasingly dependent on technology. This dependence has caused armed conflict to become progressively more impersonal and lethal. (the writer shall show with examples the fact that before technological and industrialized warfare, killing was more personal and less lethal (e.g. bows and arrows may kill a person, but a machine gun can kill hundreds in the same amount of time)
