Read a popular press book on the topic of divorce, remarriage, or stepfamilies. Students will use the bookmarking system outlined at the end of the syllabus. The presentation to the class over the book should include the following information: intended audience/who would benefit from this book, key theories and ideas, ties to course topics, strengths and weaknesses, and ways the text addresses individual or family risk and resilience. At the conclusion of the presentation, students will submit the marked book to the instructor. Class members choosing this project must read different texts. Titles may be reserved on a first-come-first-served basis with the instructor.

Students will read childrenas book that deal with the issue of divorce. Students will then submit a two-page typed critique for book that addresses the aspects of divorce that are discussed and the principal messages for children. Papers should include strengths and weaknesses of the book and provide examples from the text to support the evaluation. This is not a group exercise, and students should make every effort to evaluate book.
