Comparison of Basiles and Straparolas pieces of work
In a number of instances it appears that Basile is rewriting a tale from Straparolaas The Pleasant Nights(Puss in Boots, Straparola XI.1 and Basileas Cagliuso, II.4; Crazy Pietro, Straparola III.1 and Peruonto, Basile I.3.) Compare Straparolaas version of a given tale type to Basileas version. How do the two versions differ? What is the significance of these differences?
The paper should be 4-5 pages, double-spaced, 12pt font. This assignment requires a close, textual analysis of one or more tales. Cite from the tale(s) that are analyzed and carefully summarize the plot in order to make your argument. When citing from the tales, use parenthetical references: (Basile, 147) or (Straparola, 36).
Remember to provide a strong thesis, not just a list of differences.
