Comparison of Port Sunlight and Letchworth (Bsc real estate management)

MODULE: PROJECTS AND REPORTS
COURSE: Bsc REAL ESTATE MANAGEMENT

ASSESSMENT Written work

You are to prepare an individual written presentation, reporting upon the following matters:

1. A comparison between the development (historical and present) of Port Sunlight and Letchworth, focusing on the social, economic and personal principles that underlay their founding and subsequent development. This should include the early planning principles under which it was developed, and comments on the design, layout and subsequent development, dealing with both similarities and differences.

You may mention some of the founders (W H Lever, Ebenezer Howard), but please DO NOT write or repeat the kind of potted biography that you will find in some sources. We know W H Lever came from Bolton, and so would anyone who consulted any website about Port Sunlight s history. So who wants to know such detail in an academic report?? There will be NIL marks if all you do is supply undigested information from written or electronic sources!

A section of 1,000/1,200 words is sought, carrying 10% of the overall module mark.

Some useful websites here:

/ Look for the aerial map and the photographic tour.

600 words is sought, carrying 5% of the overall module mark.

3. A discussion of the current ownership and management position, and any problems over this and future development. Another interesting website:
/news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/education/5243098.stm?ls

Inattention to spelling and grammar, and the sloppy use of language, may suggest difficulties with language. In professional work, they indicate something much worse failure to care about your work, and failure to pay attention to detail. If you produce the wrong words, you can be sued for negligence it is as simple as that.

You have plenty of time to work on the Planned Settlements Report and the others. Try to produce something that would provide you with confidence if you were to read it yourself.

If we re not impressed with your writing, you could gain a few less marks.

If a future client is not impressed with your writing, you could be sued.

If a future employer is not impressed, you could lose your job and your career.

So it is important.
