Guidelines for the Assignment
You are required to write a 4000 word assignment in which you must:
” Write a reflective account of your experiences and learning, during the course of the module, related to teaching, learning and assessment. This must incorporate your experience of teaching and assessing students in a clinical
area in addition to consideration of how mentorship, supervision and assessment can influence the quality of the learning environment.
To prepare you to write this reflective account you are required to undertake a minimum of two teaching sessions and one assessment activity, with learners in a clinical setting.
Guidelines for Teaching Sessions
You are required to undertake a minimum of 1 formal and 1 informal teaching
session. These must be observed by your mentor (in practice) or Lecturer on the course (in the case of midwifery) who must provide comments and feedback on the appropriate documentation. These must be handed in as appendices to the written assignment, in which you should reflect (critical reflection for level 3) on:
” the strengths and areas for development within each session
” theoretical underpinnings for method, approach and delivery of each session
” the extent to which you were able to (critical at level 3) meet students needs
” the environment and teaching strategy used and appropriateness
” ethical issues around teaching students/ patient involvement, consent
Teaching materials and teaching plans etc can be used to augment your work and included as an Appendix. These will not be marked but are useful in your CPD
Portfolio or for the development of a teaching portfolio.
Guidelines for Assessment Session

students performance.
