CRITICAL THINKING ASSIGNMENT: TEMPLE GRANDIN

This assignment is worth a maximum of 60 points and constitutes the critical thinking segment of the course.

For this assignment, you will write and submit a short paper.

One aspect of the broad range of critical thinking skills involves the ability to apply knowledge to specific situations.

Earlier in the semester, we examined the issue of a?nature vs. nurture.a? Reviewing our discussions of this issue as it pertains to developmental psychology, we can define the words a?naturea? and a?nurturea? as follows:

Nature: refers to those biological forces which influence development (for example genetics, heredity, hormones, DNA, etc.)

Nurture: refers to environmental forces which influence development (for example a schools, culture, medical profession, families, peers, etc.)

For this critical thinking assignment, you will apply your knowledge of the a?nature vs. nurturea? issue.

You may recall that earlier this semester, we discussed a research method known as the case study. In viewing the film Temple Grandin, we will see a dramatized a?case studya? of the early life of Temple Grandin. In your paper, you will apply your knowledge of the issue of a?nature vs. nurturea? to the cinematic case study of the early development of Temple Grandin.

Your assignment is to explain how the issue of a?nature vs. nurturea? was involved in the development of Temple Grandin (based on the film we view in class).

In composing your paper, please consider the following guidelines for grading:

Your discussion must address the concepts of both nature and nurture.
