Assignment topic

Critically evaluate the effectiveness of the Ulrich module of HR and business partnering in helping to deliver value to organization”

BACKGROUND:

In the 1990 s, Dave Ulrich and his colleagues wrote a number of articles and books outlining their belief that HR practitioners need to raise their game i.e. that HR needs to be seen as adding value by being more strategic and contributing more effectively to the achievement of business objectives.

To help achieve this, he developed a model for Business Partnering that became known as the Ulrich Model. This consisted of the key roles that he believed HR needs to undertake, to cover both administrative and value-adding HR activities.

THE BRIEF

The coursework has two key aspects:

A critical analysis of the four-role model, and the subsequent three-legged stool version of the model that has been adopted by a number of organisations
A critical analysis of the evidence and views of those who say the model has been successful, and those who say that the model does not work in practice.

To succeed in this assignment you need to illustrate your answer with practical examples from a number of organisations.
