Ealth Care Reform and Effect on Prescription Drug Costs

The current American health industry has forgone many changes. In the pre-1980s, consumers purchased health care insurance, through employers, that allowed for free choice of health care providers. The Reagan reform of the health care industry changed this free choice of health care providers to a more restricted choice through the use of managed care organizations. This was developed to help reduce costs of primary care. The new Obama health care reform is in the process of further changing the health care insurance industry. The purpose of this paper is to show how the changes in the health care reforms have effected the costs of prescription drugs in the United States.
