Overview

The goal for this assignment is to construct a balanced scorecard for a selected organization and to generate recommendations for process improvement and organizational fitness. Recall the Kaplan and Norton (1992) article, The Balanced Scorecard: Measures that Drive Performance, from your Unit 8 studies. Also, review the concepts from the Gunduz and Simsek (2007) article, A Strategic Safety Management Framework Through Balanced Scorecard and Quality Function Deployment.Note that Kaplan and Nortons (1992) balanced scorecard framework is depicted in Figure 2 of the Gunduz and Simsek (2007) article.

The Kaplan and Norton (1992) framework will serve as a valuable resource for your first assignment in Unit 9. Recall the subsequent, short readings from Unit 8 on the basics of balanced scorecards, the updates by Kaplan and Norton (1996) on linking the scorecard to organizational strategy, as well as Nortons 2011 Harvard Business Review blog which provides a brief retrospective on updates and lessons learned.
