Escribe examples of problem to be solved by students using a collaborative problem solving model

Goal: Students will develop a deeper understanding of the interdependence within ecosystems through examing how plants and animals within a saltwater marsh.

Objectives: Given pictures and written information of saltwater marsh plants and animals, each student will:

1. Identify and describe improtant facts regarding saltwater marsh plants and animals.
2. Integrate information from all three areas of the salt water marsh (tidal changes, plants, and animals) and incorporate new vocabulary words (salt marsh, tide, cordgrass, marsh hay, burrow, gills) in writing a paragraph with at least five integrated facts.

Task instructions: Use either Student Teams-Achievement Divisions (STAD) or Jigsaw as a guide to:

A. List the steps by which you would facilitate a collaborative learning activity wherein students work together to reach the instructional objectives.
B. Provide a brief:
1. Description for each step
2. Rationale for each step
C. Describe how, as the teacher, you would assess/evaluate:
1. Individual performance
2. Group performance

Note: It is not necessary to understand ecology or salt marshes to successfully accomplish this task. Instead, you need to demonstrate knowledge of one of the given cooperative learning models.
