Scholar Practitioner Project: Advocating for Social Change

A social worker improves living conditions on a micro level when working one-on-one with a client. That improvement can occur on a macro level when a social worker strives to reform policies. Championing a policy takes it from idea to implementation.

As a social work scholar practitioner, you contribute to the field by building on the work of others, synthesizing it, and contributing new content. Following the collaborative approach of scholars, you share your program of policy change with your colleagues in Week 12 of this course.

For the Scholar Practitioner Project, you provide a social change policy proposal. Select a social justice issue for which to advocate as the focus of your assignments for this course (after this week). Once you identify an issue, develop a well-defined topic related to that issue that is narrow in scope, as a successful advocacy proposal has to be manageable in size. Based on your professional experience and interests, identify a policy practice to use as the focus of your assignments.

Prepare 34 pages in which you complete the following:
Describe the community you have selected.
Explain the social change issue.
Differentiate between need and demand as they relate to the issue and community.
Specify a needs assessment-measuring tool, and justify its use in this case.

Support your work with specific citations from this weeks Learning Resources and additional scholarly sources as appropriate. Refer to the Pocket Guide to APA Style to ensure that your in-text citations and reference list are correct.

Practitioner Project: Advocating for Social Change

In order to adequately support the social change issue for which you will advocate in your Scholar Practitioner Project, you must gather information upon which to base your proposal. An annotated bibliography is an efficient and effect method that helps researchers and practitioners assess, summarize, and synthesize existing material on a specific topic.

For this Project, review the Walden University guidelines for creating an annotated bibliography. Examine the steps needed to create an annotated bibliography and the types of material that should be included. Finally, select five resources that pertain to your social policy topic.

The Assignment (minimum 23 pages):
Create an annotated bibliography that includes five resources related to your social change issue. Be sure to use proper APA formatting.
Explain why the resources you selected are most relevant to your social change issue.

This is a project paper from three different weeks of assignments. Each week is a three-part assignment that leads to one major 11page project paper. I gave the instructions for each week. The instructions for each three parts were attached. My assignment is the exploitation of the elderly in Los Angeles California. This is my recognized social problem for my assignment.
