a. Acceptable length is 400 a 800 words (not counting math examples)
b. Essay must be in a Word document

Use the following sections in the essay and ensure that at least the identified questions are answered:

1. Background

a. Name, dates and location for the person being discussed
b. Major historical events (birth, major contributions to algebra, noteworthy events, death)

2. Discussion

a. Identify one key contribution that you will discuss in more detail
b. Explain the contribution and its real world applications
c. Provide one worked example (10 lines or less) that illustrates this idea.
d. Ensure the math is well documented. A reader should be able to make sense of it just from the comments.

3. Fun Fact

a. Identify one key fun or interesting fact about this person
b. It should be something unusual about the lifestyle or activities of this person
c. The fact does not have to be related to Algebra or math

4. References

a. Use American Psychotherapy Association (APA) style, sixth edition

b. At least two references in proper APA style should be included in the Reference section
c. The body of the paper should include at least two citations in proper APA style (one citation to each of the two references)
d. The references provide the information necessary for a reader to locate and retrieve any source cited in the body of the paper
e. Each source you cite in the paper must appear in the reference list; likewise, each entry in the reference list must be cited in your text
