Conduct a hazard and vulnerability analysis for your community or organization and discuss your plans for responding to the specific types of disasters concerning the direction and control of the disaster, the responsibility for operations, and plans for life safety and property safety.identify five key features of the Incident Command System that you believe will be most useful to you and will enable you to effectively manage and control the disaster response activities. Once you have identified the five key features of ICS briefly discuss how you relate these features to your EMP. The ICS should be a part of your EMP.
These key ICS features are: Management by Objectives, Unity of Command, Establishment and Transfer of Command, Organizational Flexibility, Unified Command, Span of Control, Common Terminology, Personnel Accountability, Integrated Communications, Resources Management, and the Incident Action Plan.

During a recent disaster (Hurricane Anne) the Incident Commander informs you at the Emergency Operations Center that he needs extra medical supplies as soon as possible since the number of persons injured have risen faster than anticipated. Additionally, the IC informs you that it appears that there will be a significant shortage in drinking water, food and temporary shelter. The heavy rains and possible flooding have made to use of tents rather dangerous.
Please answer the following:
1. Based on these limited facts, briefly critique the effectiveness of the planning process for a disaster and what may have gone wrong with the implementation of the ICS and NIMS. Outline what steps you would take to ease the critical situation.
2. Is the basic problem presented in this case one of a lack of Preparednessor one of a failure to properly implement appropriate mitigation measures? Justify your response and discuss the difference between mitigation and preparedness.
