Research Project Guidelines

1. Choose a topic for your research project. Your topic can be anything related to the subject of a?American Diversitya?. You must submit a bibliography and paper outline on the date indicated in the syllabus. This will ensure that you are choosing a topic that is related, and with an ability to find adequate research materials.
2. Choose the topic by Week 2, the earlier the better. Feel free to look ahead a bit in the text and course readings to get ideas. You can also a?googlea? to find a topic, but websites should not be used as research paper sources.
3. Both your paper and outline should be in proper APA or MLA format. If you are unfamiliar with these formatting guides, please check with your college writing center.
4. Your research project can take any of several forms. I suggest making it fit to your future goals. For example:
a? If you plan to do web development as a future career, create a website on some particular topic or historic event
a? If you plan to do into photography or photo journalism, create a photo essay on a particular topic, event, or historical figure.
a? If you plan to be a fiction writer, write a historic novella.
a? You can also choose to do a traditional research paper. If you choose this option, your paper should be 5-7 pages, double spaced, 1 inch margins, 12 point Times New Roman Font
a? YOU MUST GET YOUR PROJECT APPROVED, AND OUTLINE PARAMETERS WITH THE INSTRUCTOR IF YOU ARE NOT DOING A TRADITIONAL RESEARCH PROJECT.

FINAL RESEARH PROJECTS ARE DUE BY THE DATE IN THESYLLABUS. Late submissions will not be accepted!
