The professor of my college course has instructed us to write a term paper with references on a topic of our choice that Has a contrast of ideas we want to present.
I need to consider both sides of the argument, and make a strong case for both, leaving the reader guessing through to the end as to which side I agree with.
I have chosen the topic of the NFL hiring process instituting The Rooney Rule. Below is a brief excerpt from a magazine to give you some background.
Instituted in 2002, the Rooney Rule requires NFL teams to interview at least one minority candidate for a head coaching vacancy. It has become a touchy subject for various reasons. Sometimes minority candidates decline interview requests, feeling they are simply being used to comply with the rule.
My final decision will be that hiring a candidate for a job should NOT be based on race, religion or gender, but on the best overall person to do the job your are asking of them. So in short I am disagreeing with the Rooney Rule.
