Guidance for a Literature Review
The master thesis is the most significant scientific target of your masteras graduate
degree. It is a formalized expression of the fact that you are able to deal with
scientific/academic issues.
A successful Masterthesis has two main qualities:
1. It identifies a good question or purpose
2. It provides a satisfactory answer to that question or purpose.
What makes a thesis question or purpose a good one?
The answer should not easily be found in literature in order to generate original
scientific results. In this case an answer serves as a contribution to new knowledge.
Therefore a master thesis should convince a reader, that you have chosen an
interesting question with a scientific impact, that you have scientifically tried to
answer it and that you have made therefore a significant and original contribution to
new knowledge.
There are different types of scientific research depending on the topic, method,
results and aims. First of all you have to choose your type of study. It can be:
A· Literature Review
A· In vitro study
A· Clinical trial
This document is intended as a guide to successful master thesis writing.
