Mattherw 18:22) What does Jesus mean by saying we have to forgive 70 X 7 times.

After our discussion of the Hermeneutical Principles of Scriptural Exegesis, each of you will be given a somewhat perplexing passage from scripture. You will consult at least five (5) sources representing at least two different kinds of resources that we discuss in class to arrive at an exegesis. (three sources from internet and two from book)

You will submit a written report which contains the following elements:

1. The scriptural citation (e.g., John 3:2) along with some indication of the main concern, e.g.,
i??Who is Mammon?,i?? i??Does the Jesus of Matthew Allow for Divorce?,i?? etc. In the case of whole paragraphs, you just have to put one sentence that is the focus of your concern; you do not have to duplicate whole paragraph!

2. The exegesis of the passage that you found in your sources. If there is only one, put that one down; there is no need go through each of your sources and saying that they say same thing. You will be penalized if you do.

If you find more than one interpretation, just describe each one and indicate which sources give each. Again, you do not have to go through each source repeating the same thing over again. Make sure that you indicate which interpretation you thinks makes more (most) sense and why.

3. Identification of the hermeneutical principles which you saw your sources employing to
arrive at this exegesis. Here you must be specific in showing how these principles are
employed. There has to be at least one: i??take it literally.i?? Do not simply give me numbers,
e.g., HP #1. Give me the name of the principle, e.g., Extra-Biblical Corroboration.

4. a bibliography of the five sources that you consulted in their proper bibliographical form
according to whatever discipline you are a major in or are used to.

The paper must be divided into these five distinct sections along with headings. The
