Emotional, Behavioral, and Physical Disabilities

i) Write a 1250-1500 word essay addressing the education of students with emotional and behavioral disorders, physical disabilities, health impairments, and traumatic brain injury. Include the following:

(1) Describe and give examples of effective teaching strategies for students with emotional and behavioral disorders, physical and health impairments, and traumatic brain injury.

(2) Describe what you can do to nurture the self-esteem, self-determination, and enhance the self-advocacy skills of students with emotional and behavioral disorders, physical and health impairments, and traumatic brain injury.

(3) Describe what can be done to help your students to understand, respect, and respond appropriately to the students with disabilities in a class.

(4) A summary of one of the following topics:

(a) Investigate the policies, procedures, and programs for the education of students with emotional and behavioral disorders, physical disabilities, other health impairments, and traumatic brain injury in your local school district. Describe how those procedures are implemented with individual students at a local school.

(b) Attend an IEP meeting of a student with emotional and behavioral disorders, physical disabilities, other health impairments, or traumatic brain injury or discuss an IEP meeting for one of these students with a member of an IEP team.

(i) NOTE: You must obtain written parental permission before attending the IEP meeting.

(c) Visit, observe, and participate in inclusionary and/or special classrooms serving students with emotional and behavioral disorders, physical disabilities, other health impairments, and traumatic brain injury. Discuss academic and/or behavior modifications that you observed in each setting.

ii) Use standard essay format in APA style, including an introduction, conclusion, and title page. An abstract is required. Cite in-text and in the References section.

iii) Submit the assignment to the instructor in ANGEL by the end of Module 6.
