DNA methylation effects in Friedreich ataxia (FRDA)

There is good evidence that DNA methylation at promoter sequences can inhibit gene expression. However, the DNA methylation status of the FRDA promoter, and how this may interact with GAA repeat expansion mutations, is unknown. This project will analyse DNA methylation at the FRDA promoter in FRDA transgenic mouse tissues that either do or do not contain GAA repeat expansion mutations.

Literature review, 5000 words plus or minus 250:Review of DNA methylation mechanisms and effects.
Practical component, I will be working on at the same time, but the literature review will have to be tied in with it. It involves: (DNA preparation, bisulphite treatment, methylation sensitive PCR (MSP))

I am including a copy of the guidelines which need to be followed carefully for a 1st classs degree to be possible. So please pay close attention to it, and read it carefully.
