Nabling children to address issues of addiction and self-harm effectively
Imagine that you have been asked to preapre a presentation for a fostering agency whose carers are asking for information and advice on helping children to address issues of addiction and self-harm. The carers have also expressed a wish to gain a better understanding of the origins of addiction and self harm. The learning outcome for this module is to: explain how carers can enable children to address issues of addiction and self harm effetively.
To achieve this outcome you must be able to demosntrate the ability to meet the following assessment criteria.
a) Identify the links between unmet infant attachment needs and issues of depedency, control and shame in addiction.
b) Outline the perceived benefits of addiction and obsessive compulsive behaviour for traumatised children and young people.
c) Give examples of interventions which enable children to addresss issues of addiction and self harm effectively.
I will fax through the work relating to this module as it may help.
