Introduction
There are three steps in developing cross-cultural effectiveness (Walker,DM, Walker, T, Schmitz,J (1992). Doing Business Internationally:the guide to Cross-cultural success. 2nd ed. New York: McGraw Hill:32)
Step 1 : Self awareness a gaining insight into your own culture. It is necessary to analyse yourself, to discover your own style. Please select 4 or 5 (maximum) cultural variables/dimensions to conduct this self-analysis. Possible examples of such variables are below, although you can use others from the academic literature if you prefer.

Step 2 : Cross cultural understanding understanding the culture of others. Acquiring knowledge and understanding of the national culture and the business culture of the society or country in question is a requirement, as is insight into its preferences in terms of the cultural variables given above.
It is essential that you avoid stereotyping or judging a different culture in relation to your own; the object of the exercise is to understand and compare cultures.

Step 3 a Adapting your professional skills to the culture and working style of the society or country in question. Account needs to be taken of both the preferences within each cultural variable and the effect of these variables on working styles. Furthermore strategies needs to be established to enable the manager to succeed in the country in question

E.g.Since am related best to the portages culture and I find my self more in that environment, if I was portages working as a manager in a company there and a polish worker came to me or if I had to work with them how will I deal with them and what strategy will I be using to manage a polish employee as a portages employer or as manager in a portages company in Portugal
