Nalyze a Schools Emergency and Crisis Response Plan
School Emergency and Crisis Response Plan
A school emergency and crisis response plan is a crisis management blueprint created under the school/district leadership, with collaboration from the members of the school community, local safety, and law enforcement personnel. The creation of this plan relies upon the commitment and expertise of individuals within and outside of a school community. A school emergency and crisis response plan offers a road map to follow when an emergency occurs. This plan must be available to everyone within the school community and everyone should have a role in implementing the plan. The plan is most effective when the affected school community adheres to the procedures and receives ongoing training. Although the depth of details in a school emergency and crisis response plan may vary among districts and schools, a well-created plan includes the following key elements: (a) roles of administration and staff members, (b) communication plan, (c) locations of evacuation and sheltering, (d) procedures to release students, and (e) routines for drills and exercises.
