Ognitive Development throughout the Lifespan

Cognitive development refers to functions such as attention, memory, thinking, metacognition, intelligence and language. In this activity you will examine what enhances development and what slows decline of these important functions throughout the lifespan

4 Main task: Examine Cognitive Development throughout the Lifespan.
Choose three of the following cognitive functions: attention, memory, thinking, metacognition, intelligence, and language. Write a paper in which for each of the functions that you chose do the following:

Briefly describe the function.
Give a brief overview of the development of this function throughout the lifespan.
Discuss what inborn or environmental factors enhance development of that function.
Discuss what inborn or environmental factors have been found to slow decline of that function.
Finally, compare and contrast any similarities and differences that you found in factors related the development or decline of these functions throughout the lifespan.
Support your paper with at least three research articles published in peer reviewed journals within the past seven years. In addition to these specified resources, other appropriate scholarly resources, including older articles, may be included.

Length: 5-7 pages (app. 350 words per page)

Your paper should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts that are presented in the course and provide new thoughts and insights relating directly to this topic.
