Omment on how the US can contain its increasing health care costs ? What can other rapidly developing countries learn from the US experience ?

Health care technology is very superior in the US. America invests a great deal in health care
research. Despite many advances, the US faces serious challenges. The health care costs are
escalating at a rapid pace. Huge medical care expenditures have not translated into health
benefits, as one would expect.
In comparing USA with other industrial nations we see striking differences. According to the
Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development the United States spent 17.7 % of its
total income in 2011 on health, which is approximately $ 8, 508 per person. This is in comparison to
$ 4,522 spent by Canada and $ 3, 405 by UK in the same year.
