In this project you will be researching your stateas correctional systema covering both community-based and institutional settings. Your completed paper should be 5-6 pages in length, using a minimum of 3 references and APA style.Locate the web site for your stateas correctional department by conducting a search: a?Iowa Department of Correctionsa?. Your paper must address the following questions:

Part A: Community-based corrections

1.Using information from your text, related seminars, and additional Internet or print sources, discuss the goals of community-based corrections.

2.Identify and describe the types of community-based corrections available in your state, such as probation, intermediate sanctions, parole, and reentry programs.

3. Are community based corrections effective? Discuss any research findings available on your state web site (Note: look for headings titled Research and/or Publications) or from other outside sources to assess the effectiveness of these programs. Be sure to cite specific research.

Part B: Correctional Institutions

4. Describe the types of correctional institutions available for adults in your state. Be sure to identify institutions based on the following designations: security level; menas and womenas facilities; and public and private institutions.

5. Go to the Federal Bureau of Prisons web site Facility Locator:

(dsFacilityLoc?fl_StartSearchreset); Enter your state to determine if there are any federal prisons in your home state.

Provide a list of the facility names and security level. If there is not one, note that information in your essay.
