1) Appreciation of the underlying value assumptions behind British community care provision and some of the problems facing its continuing provision  note key recent changes since 1990 to their functioning

2) Understanding of the concept of familial obligation and demonstration of some knowledge of research about this

3) Knowledge of the feminist critique of community care and disagreements within it

4) Discussion of potential policy options that might be able to make  caring more valued as a gendered activity and /or an expectation of both genders
