Assignment: Select two facts or quotes from this week s reading that represent the condition of women in the period between the American Revolution and the Civil War. One should refer to something that you believe remains basically true today, and the other should refer to something that you believe has been significantly changed. In a paper of at least one page, introduce the quotes and explain your choices. Note that the chapter starts by talking about the colonial period, but that this assignment refers to the period after the US became an independent nation. See my notes on this week s readings.
