Student Brief Assessment 2:

From the table below please choose one organisation and the related contemporary issue which was covered during lectures 3 a 7. You cannot select a topic, or the company related to that topic, on which you have previously presented on.

You must submit an individual written assignment of a maximum of 2000 words in which you:
a? Identify why the contemporary issue is relevant to the chosen organisation.
a? Critically evaluate how the organisation is dealing with the issue based on the research you have undertaken.

This assignment should be submitted as a portfolio with the marked version of assignment 1attached as Appendix 1.

Ontemporary Issues in Business and Management

Using theory, models and analytical tools related to the topics covered in lectures 6, 7 and 8 (managing change and innovation, CSR and leadership):

A) Critically discuss the challenges leaders of organisations encounter in trying to ensure a company meets its corporate social responsibilities, paying particular attention to the impact organisations can have on the natural environment.
B) Identify and critically evaluate contemporary examples which show how companies are trying to a?go greena.

Ontemporary Issues in Business and Management

Written assignment

This part of the assessment consists of an individual piece of work in which you provide a critical evaluation of a specific business issue you have researched.

You will choose a topic from Lectures 3 7 (excluding the one you have previously presented on) together with an organisation from a selection provided by the teaching team to research how the organisation has dealt with a specific issue. Students will then individually research and evaluate the way in which their chosen organisation deals with this issue. Topics and organisations will be chosen in tutorials week commencing 26th November 2012.

Students must submit an individually produced written assignment which:

Identifies why the issue is relevant to the chosen organisation

Critically evaluates how the organisation is dealing with the issue based on the academic research they have undertaken.

Please note: If your submission exceeds 10% of this word limited a penalty of 10% will be applied by deducting 10 points from the given grade for the paper

Reflective account (maximum 500 words)

In addition you are required to submit a reflection on how the feedback you received from your tutor on Assignment One has influenced you in preparing Assignment Two. This reflective account on the usefulness of feedback received carries 10% of the grade for assignment two.
