critical summary should be about 1.5 2 pages in length

containing:
1. An introduction that indicates the author and the title, and briefly explains the topic of the text. Conclude the introduction with a brief statement of your evaluation of the text. This can be a postive or negative evaluation or, as is usually the case, a mixed response.
2. A summarizing paragraph that presents the aim of the text and summarises the main finding or key arguement.
3. Acritical evaluation paragraph that offers your opinion on the text.
4. A concluding paragraph(very short) that briefly states you overall opinion of the text. You may also want to briefly present your recommendations for improvement.

to what extent has this aim been achieved?
how objective/biased is the approach?
are the results valid and reliable?
is there a clear problem, statement or hypothesis?
is the arguement consistent?
what kinds of evidence in supporting the arguement?
what conclusion are drawn?
are these conclusion justified?
does the writing style suit the intended audience? (expert, non-expert, academic, non-academic)
what is the organising principle of the text? could it be better organised?
