Rench medical advancements from the French Revolution through Napoleon

We are to write a 10 page research paper on a topic of our choice using as many primary sources as possible. I have chosen medical advancements from the French Revolution through the Napoleonic era in French history (roughly 1770 -1830). I am to take the stance of whether or not the strifes during this era were good (increased the rate) for scientific medical advancements (medications, mortality during birth, life expectancy, new practices instead of amputation, and other things like these). The more primary sources the better. Any sources other than primary or secondary type references should be used sparingly. I would like to see 10 primary/secondary sources. Beyond that, include what you think will help the argument. I am inclined to believe that it did increase the rate, however, that will be up to the researcher.
