Essay Question:

Identify, describe and critically analyse how Garland (1996 or 2000 or 2001 chapters 2 and 5) may assist our understanding of selected responses to crime in the U.K.

Introduction:

 This section should re-state in your own words the essay question, that is, that you intend to identify, describe and critically analyse how Garland may assist our understanding of selected responses to crime in the U.K.

 This section should also describe the key components (headings below) that you intend to cover in the rest of your essay, and identify any arguments you intend to make.

 The introduction should be no more than one or two paragraphs in length.

Responses to Crime:

 Identify and describe the two contrasting types of responses (adaptation and denial) that governments employ to deal with crime and disorder.

 Using two current (i.e. within the last two or three years) newspaper articles, identify two examples of criminal justice policy developments in the U.K. and assess whether they are examples of adaptation or denial
