Ritical Essay on The Necklace by Guy de Maupassant
1.you will write an essay in which you will respond to the short story The Necklace by Guy de Maupassant.Consider the following quetions as your prompt for the essay.y What is the dominant theme of this story? What is something that Guy de Maupassant is trying to say about life through his characters, setting, and plot?
2. Your response will be in the form of a critical essay which should span 2-3 pages(it should be at least 2 full pages). It should be typed and double-spaced. You should have your own title at the beginning of the essay.(Do Not use The Necklace)
3. In your introduction, you will formulate a thesis statement based on the questions above.(the first question is the main question, with the other as a guide to help in your response). Your thesis statement must be an arguable opinion that you can support with information from the story itself. Use at least three well-developed paragraphs to argue and prove your thesis, and close with an appropriate conclusion paragraph.Dont forget that the body paragraphs should always begin with topic sentences, and they should not end with quotes. Remember that you should not use firstor secondperson point of view.
4. Also, you must use details and quotes from the story to prove your interpretation. You will document your quotesw from the story by using parenthetical documentation and a Work Cited page with one entry(the story itself).
