Ritical Reflection on Nursing Praxis in the Context of Loss and Grieving

3. Critical Reflection on Nursing Praxis in the Context of Loss and Grieving 35% (Length 10 pages; ~ 3000 words)

This final assignment is your opportunity to critically reflect on your learning in the course and to demonstrate your understanding of nursing praxis in the context of loss in grieving, while integrating a human science-based nursing theory of choice.(the chosen theory is that of the Humam becoming theory by R. Parse)

You can build on your groups work in Exercise 4.1 (included as an attachment) (being sure to reference it), but your paper must represent your own thinking.

In your paper, critically reflect on the theoretical/philosophical, experiential, and research foundations of your knowledge base about loss and grieving, as developed through exploration within the course. How do these various sources of knowledge inform your current view of nursing praxis in the context of loss in grieving? Include a description of your chosen nursing theoretical perspective. How does it fit with your values and beliefs? Evaluate the nursing theory regarding its usefulness for guiding nursing practice with persons/families experiencing loss and grieving. For example, how does it inform and/or constrain personal knowing? How does it inform what happens in the nurse-person/family relationship? What are the ethical implications of this theoretical perspective in practice with persons/families experiencing loss and grieving? How does it help to promote health (as that is viewed, in this perspective)? How does it help to advance quality care? What would you like to learn more about? What questions require further inquiry?
Evaluation: Criteria for evaluation include depth and breadth of analysis; degree and originality of synthesis; and clarity (i.e., logical development of ideas, grammar, syntax, appropriate use of APA, etc.).

I had a particular interest in spousal bereavement and an inclination to the theory of human becoming by Parse.
