Undamentals of Intercultural Communication

Length: 700-900 words

Purpose: In this assignment, you will produce a critical response to an assigned
reading. A critical response is an assessment of an article that addresses the argument
made by that article and how, in terms of use of evidence and rhetorical strategies, that
argument is made. Critical response is closely related to the annotations of an
annotated bibliography; however, a critical response on one article only and the way
that it addresses its thesis. A critical response requires close reading, not only of the
evidence, but also of the way that the evidence is presented and of the conclusions
reached.

In this case, the term critical does not imply the common definition of searching for fault.
Instead, critical denotes a close analysis of the material presented and its implications
for the argument being made. A critical response can be entirely positive if the
arguments and positions presented in the article being examined are well made and
appropriate to the topic.
This assignment will take the form of a short essay. Your thesis should engage the
articleas position and make an assertion of how that article addresses its thesis. The
discussion in your essay will support and explain the position that youave taken
regarding the article and demonstrate the fitness of your claim.

In this assignment, you must continue to practice correct APA formatting according to
the current APA guide. You must include a correctly formatted APA style References
page.

Like in the first two assignments, your critical response must be submitted on standard 8 A? x 11 paper.
